Favorite Urban Fantasy Books (Part 1)

One of my favorite hobbies as a kid was reading, and, as it turns out, it still is!

I was first introduced to the Urban Fantasy genre through Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Mysteries (a.k.a. the Sookie Stackhouse books upon which the HBO show True Blood is very loosely based.)

And I fell in love.

After I finished all 12 of those books (final book 13 being released this May), I was really in love with the whole supernatural element grounded in real life. Which is basically what Urban Fantasy as a genre is really about.

I went on the hunt -STAT!- for more books I could sink my teeth into and enjoy.

I'm deeply grateful to the many helpful readers out there suggesting similar or comparable books. You were definitely my jumping off point, and you saved my wildly beating Urban Fantasy heart from starvation! Hopefully, I can pay it forward a little here.

Here are my favorites so far, and why I love them.
